just quickly to say there was lightening in Leeds city centre this morning around 7am.

Now it is still raining heavily but the thunder and lightening seems to have eased.

Started about 09:00 with heavy rain, then started hearing thunder, then some sheet lightning.

One was pretty close, thunder took about 3 seconds to get here.

Seen about 5 flashes all together and probably about 10 - 15 rumbles ;)

Not such a good show on the Wirral toady (although I'm trying to monitor from an internal office!). It's just started raining, and we've had a few rumbles, the strike alert has gone off a few times but it seems quite random, from overhead to 48 miles. Still have high hopes though, cos I've got a banging headache which normally means something will happen!

Had a drawn out storm from about 2am til 6.30 this morning lots of rumbles but only a bit of lightning, steady but not heavy rain.

Rain started in earnest around 9-30 am,it then became torrential around 10 am for about 30 minutes accompanied by several flashes of lightning, I would reckon that the centre of the storm was about 8 miles away, still raining but only moderately. Morning Don,I trust that you are not too wet.

Had a heavy downpour just before midnight and when I left work at 1am could see lightning towards Beachy Head and also inland towards Herstmonceux.

UPDATE:

heavy rain now for past five or so mins , also lightening and noise. However its a longtime between the action which suggest a moderate low energy storm moving through, but was better than yesterdays storm.

i can see bright skys comming in so should be on its way soon.

Storm just passed with torrential rain, roads as rivers, frequent booming thunder and the odd CG visible

Huge wall of storm clouds across the whole of the northern horizon

Just had a storm move north slowly here west of swindon. Not much thunder and lightening to start but really torrential rain... recorded 24mm in just under 30 minutes!!

More thunder and lightening noticed after rain stopped. Watch out those of you in South Gloucetershire, seems to be getting bigger!
