Mainly cloudy Bright it looks like the sun is about to make an appearance. South Derbyshire has gotten off very lightly with the current storms with just a few rummbles of thunder in the distance and the odd burst of moderate to heavy showers but nothing lasting for more than an hour or so. I am still looking at a record low rainfall for the year here in Newhall and so far I am at least 200mm below my lowest total. Will have to wait and see what the final four months of the year throw at us.

Moderate shower now in Durham City. Heaviest of it is being diverted to the west of Durham over the pennines (as the shower is quite wide). I suspect further showers will weaken like this once they head up the flanks of the pennines.

the showers are very hit and miss today.

went over to hertford and it poured with rain but when we came back to ware bot a drop of rain, everything dry. this also happened when mum went to stevenage, where it was raining, however no rain in ware so far today....makes me wonder how often we miss out on rain on other occasions...

What a day of 2 halves.

It was warm with plenty of sunshine until mid afternoon, max of 22c. Then thunderstorms followed by light rain dominated and as I type it's turning slowly clearer but also misty. Temp down to 15c.

Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
