I can confirm that Rob being only 10 mins away down the M65, I have seen a couple of flashes in the last few minutes and heard a couple of rumbles.

Nothing much really though the lightning was pretty bright.

Thunderstorm just cleared SE from the town, about 10-15 mins of heavy rain and fairly frequent IC/CC lightning with one Cg observed, hail also fell towards the rear of the storm.

Observed same storm as Nick, slipped by to the north of my position in Colchester with a smaller cell moving to the south of my position, moderate rain, no hail, fair number of lightning seen, once reasonably close. Looks like the core of main cell went ummm, N/NW side of town, out on the East, towards Mersea/Clacton.

Just had the second storm of the afternoon pass over Colchester, this time brief and weakly electrified - with just two rumbles heard with a downpour for 5 mins with hail, now brightening up with the sun shining while still raining with a cracking rainbow to the East.

Had a distant storm pass by earlier this afternoon with a few rumbles of thunder, and then another pass much closer a bit later. Neither were close enough to bring any rain, but we had a sharp downpour between the two storms passig through

a rumble of thunder in a very blustery shower, a gale force gust whipped up a huge cloud of dust from the building site to the west, then it settled all over the house

another dark cloud on the way
