This is a very young grey seal pup, you can still see the umbilical chord attached and quite fresh so maybe only a couple of days old. sleeping soundly :)

and did you know they can't swim until they are weaned from mum!

Wow Paula, great photo. Can I have the pup though, cos flagpole always gets everything else?

Tough competition this month!

Anyway, first up from me this month is the sunset on 2nd September:-

Followed by something a bit different for me: swans on the Avon, taken yesterday afternoon. I love the inky colour and texture of the water :)

And add my 3rd picture at the end of the month :)

ok it's not strictly on topic, but just to let you know that the seal pup i pictured has been taken into rehab as it was chased around the beach by quad bike and hasn't been fed for a couple of days and it is thought by people more expert than me that mum wouldn't come back to it now anyway. We uplifted two of them infact, the other hadn't been fed for around 4 or 5 days either

you can see my report here in the top right under the title caithness grey seal pups rescued.

Thanks John... it was soooooo beautiful out there this morning - I love autumn for its soft misty morning light.....should've used a manual shot intstead of automatic to get the real feel.

I also love Lou's acorn !

:) Brrr
