Forecast models has been updated and quoting new stormy event for located areas. Lifted Index and CAPE is much alot deeper than last few months. Wind shear is reasonable. We are looking at severe storm event as it usual end of October. Our last good stormy event in October was back in 2003 that NSW had alot of rain and good thunderstorms.

Anyway Wednesday 18th of October is the startdate of thunderstorms event, that day thunderstorms mainly in central NSW by the southern'ly change develops. By next day Thursday of course, the southern'ly change sweeps away on the sea and winds start to turn NE'ly again and bring more storms in central NSW and it extending throughout into NE NSW and SE QLD. Lifted Index and CAPE will be reasonable similar to windshear through the week. Rainfalls would be a little low west of the ranges, one day might see a high precipiation thunderstorm in west of the ranges. Coastal areas and east of the ranges will see thunderstorms due to the reasonable wind shear. The moisture had been increased since last week from NE areas alothough good heating to perform thunderstorms.

Hopefully this comes out!

Channel nine and ten news both saying this is now the worst Aussie drought in history - and there's even talk of it being the case that water is actually running out, rather than just being a drought. Local reservoirs here 53% full - and that at the end of winter. Sounds ominous, especially if el nino develops.

Do you have a website where you download all your photographs and videos of storms to? If so, could you leave a link because I'm now jealous of your weather over there.

I case we'll have to put up with foggy mornings and hazy sunshine in the afternoons.

Yeh Barry it good site.

Today was friggin hot and humid with showers so nice!

Lifted Index has changed to -5C!! Wiht CAPE over 2000 awesome! We getting storms between Wednesday and Sunday, what a outbreak ahead for sure! It going to be a wild weather week for Northern Rivers, BOM has said on the radio, the storms will be severe enough as windshear, instabilty and moisture is high enough. Friday to Sunday will be most severe in Northern Rivers, possibility for supercell chance is over 70%!

Cheers

Looking so excellent for this event but mainly NE NSW due to NW lies drying up around Brisbane and might be another donut hole again for Brisbane. Wednesday looking good for increasing CAPE, windshear and lifted index in central NSW and extending into NE NSW on Thursday early morning and looking for increase of severity due jetstream developing across the region and makes the possibility of damaging winds higher. Rest of the week until Sunday will be excellent with more increasing severity and there would bring more rain to our dams! It El Nino period, it good risk for damaging winds that have high windshear instabilities which have high extreme winds in jetstream, that would cause a tornado to form depends what it look like during this week, who knows! Rainfall with moisture would be not a problem this week! There gonna be another heatwave during this event but with humidity for again!

Good luck guys!

Here we come for massive storm season that has started already! Heres the breaking weather news off weatherzone Australia:

Storm season firing up in NSW

Tom Saunders, Tue 17:45 EST

The first significant thunderstorm event of the season will commence in NSW on Wednesday. Thunderstorms are possible in eastern and northern districts of the state with the heaviest and most widespread falls likely to occur on the ranges. The storms will develop in moist and unstable air near and ahead of a trough crossing the southwest of the state. Cooler and drier air will suppress thunderstorm development behind the trough. The trough will stall on Wednesday night, allowing for further thunderstorms in the northeastern half of NSW on Thursday. The trough will drift west and deepen early Friday ahead of sharp upper trough approaching from the south. This will allow showers and isolated thunderstorms to develop in the west on Friday before spreading back east with the trough during the day. Some reasonable falls are possible on Friday due to moist tropical air being fed into the system. Thunderstorms will contract to northeast NSW on Saturday but showers will persist further south along the coast.

CAPE and lifted index fairly good to better mode. Windshear and wetbulb has increased as it will make thunderstorms to increase more frequent. The soundings for tomorrow looking so nasty ahead for us! Here it is: http://62.202.7.134/img/snd/skewt_95527_20061017_00z.gif (It said location for Moree because the soundings tell it area to its east, as usually for storm movement) And although looking so good on Moree radar atm: http://mirror.bom.gov.au/products/IDR532.loop.shtml

Hopefully it comes to Northern Rivers during tomorrow with max temperature of 29C!

Cheers Matt
