Nice little sotmr here, moving around the River Plym, with flashes all round. Nothing major but nice all the same. ;)

Enough to freeze the Sky signal.

Storm here in torbay, average 5 flashes per minute....all intercloud, no CG....first storm moving to the north, more lightning visible off the coast to my south

Plymouth - Wow, what amazing effects in the sky, thunder and lightening for the past two hours, heavy rain too. It doesn't show signs of letting up either. We live quite high so have a brilliant view from Plympton in Plymouth looking towards the River Plym. Little flashes and then massive illuminations in the sky in a blue/purple colour. Best I have seen since the 80's.

Awesome! At last we get a violent thunderstorm. Explosions here rather than rumbles, the kind that make you jump out of your skin.. ive caught lightning on my phonecam some good stuff too

Got lightning off to my Northwest and Northeast, thunder is incredibly loud and some very long rumbles. Clouds are really black in that direction.

Had a thunderstorm here.

Not a huge amount of rain but lots of lightning

and some thunder.

Moved away quick as it came though.

2 storm cells passed either side of here at 07:45 this morning. Both were quite active, but fairly small and fast moving. The atmosphere is very humid still and I am sure we are ripe for more of the same as the day gets going.

Wohooo what a storm!

Was quite a surprise to wake up to that, the main area of lightning that moved through a few minutes ago seems to have calmed down a bit now but it was very bright and very loud, and the rainfall was something else.

Feels quite warm out as well, more like summer than October.

One other thing as well, I was stood in the back bedroom watching it when a cg strike came down and must have hit either the telephone or power grid.

(Both run from the fields out the back)

As there was this wave of explosions travelling from the strike location down in to the nearby industrial sector, which appeared to be suspended at telephone pole / power pole height.

There would be a bright flash followed by a spray of white plasma looking energy and then flames.

What a sight that was!

Even with the poor visibility that was pretty damn spectacular, and there's obviously been some damage done there.

Storm here at 06:20 (bst) for about 30 minutes with CG and heavy rain resulting in localised flooding on the usual roads that are prone to it.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
