It would be very hard to tell if anything is behind the clouds with the light pollution from beneath causing most illumination here.... There's no chance of the gloom clearing either.

There's a very small window of opportunity to see something here in the High Peak between 9 and 10 where the meto cloud forecast is predicting a bit of clear sky, if activity levels continue heightened to to then I might have a quick pop-up to either Rushup Edge or the Glossop side of Snake Pass.

Hoping for a break in cloud...

Probably not even strong enough anymore, might not even bother trying later.

Liamkaboom Looks like a dud for many this evening with exception for parts of Northern Scotland, the predicted clear-spell never materialised here and the Aurora levels quickly dropped anyway after 8pm. Hopefully sunspot AR3889 provides more opportunities in the week ahead as it's now Earth facing.

One to keep a eye on over the next few days... spaceweather.com

SOMETHING FLARE-Y THIS WAY COMES: Yesterday, a sunspot hidden behind the sun's northeastern limb produced an M9-(almost-X)-class solar flare. Today, the same sunspot is revealing itself, right here. It is clearly capable of strong explosions, which may become geoeffective as the sunspot turns toward Earth later this week.

*Stormforce~beka* It means the Peak of Solar Max when the sun's magnetic fields flip North to South or South to North creating high sunspot solar activity.

An M9.5 Flare just now from an earth facing sunspot...
