Today it's 18 years since by far the best November snowfall I can remember. The month had up until then been mostly sunny by day with frosts at night, pleasant but nothing compared to what came that Sunday. I can still remember waking up, pulling the curtains and being amazed to see the white everywhere which could only mean one thing. There was a good 10cms level snow and I can recall the astonishment of everyone at so much snow so early as we got the coats, hats, boots and sledges out and spent most of the day outdoors. It then froze hard on the Sunday night and although school was open Monday we were kept off the yard as it was so icy. Right through to Tuesday night there was still a full cover and it took till the Thursday for it all to disappear.

Sadly this wonderful November was followed by a really poor winter- in fact, November 1988 was easily the best "winter" month between 1986/7 and 1990/1.

I remember well the N'erly around then (20th/21st) in 1988, was quite a potent blast, and unusually it brought a fair bit of snow to Kent -enough snow to prevent me getting to school which was unusual in itself in November even in the 80s.

Yes I remember this as it fell just in time for my birthday that was a great present :D

About 5 inches here but I never kept any records then sadly to look back, just have to go by memory but it was one of the most potent november snowfalls I can remember in the 80`s :)
