I think the Fog has well and truly dissipated for the time being, so hopefully it should be a nicer drive home this evening.

The temperature has now increased to a respectable 5 Degrees, skies are now cloudy, but it is nice to see a glimpse of the sun every now and again.

Now the skies are clear the temperature is dropping like a stone, the max today was 8C, but now it's dropped to 4C. If the cloud or fog doesn't return/occur, then we could be on for our first real frost of the winter!

Thick fog all day here in Basingstoke, without even the slightest sign of brightness, and plenty of white frost. Visibility about 100m. Temperature currently -0.2 according to a local weather station and steady for several hours...looks like we could have our first ice day for some years round here  . Wind light E.

Clear cold and frosty here with the temperature at -0.5ºC. This is the highest it has been all day and with it trending slowly upwards, I'm a little worried that my ice day is under threat.

Bugger, its -0.4ºC now!

Today the freezing fog lifted into mist and low cloud that left a gloomy afternoon, but not with the eerie feeling of yesterday. The rime frost gradually thawed as the temperature snuck up to 2c. Temp is now on the fall, but still above freezing at 1c.

3C but the cloud is rolling back in so frost is out of the question tonight again, so temperatures will start to rise soon.

The UK wind map site gives the current weather for Wattisham as 'snow grains'. Just wondering whether anyone can confirm this?

Well XCweather has said Wattisham (I think- or somewhere similar) has had snow grains for nearly 60 hours running, if so then there must be some hefty accumulations there  :)

In truth there is no snow anywhere, it's probably just the ice crystals from the freezing fog. The inversion won't allow snow of any kind, the route down is not deep enough to form real precipitation, plus it's a common rule that once snow form melts it cannot return to snow. So they are just picking up slightly larger crystals in the freezing fog, nothing more.
