currently cold, low cloud which I imagine could 'become' fog later, conditions permitting, 2C, not used to this kind of cool this week at almost midday. I suppose it's pleasant in a way ! Looking over the 'mid-Wirral valley' that runs straight through the two ridges NW-SE, there is a fair bit of mist there from what I can see

Well what a difference in the North East over the last 24 hours ,, Max temp today soared to 10.0c @1218hrs . It has been quite mild today , alot better than the past 5 or 6 days ...

pressure has stayed steady for today 1041.4hpa , think this is the highest i have seen the pressure

Interesting to see a 1051 reading in Glos - presume this corrected to sea level - anyone higher than this?

My barometer read 1048 last night (corrected to sea level) which i think pretty excpetional .

Maybe that's why I felt awful yesterday with a worsening headache just above the eyes?

Thinking about it 1050-ish mbs means an extra say 50kgs per cm2 air is pressing down on us

compared to 1000mbs, assuming air has a weight of 1 tonne per square cm.

Sunny until 1500 when a sheet of stratus began to spread from the north west. It's now cloudy with a temp' of 4.4c after a max' of 6.9c, the fog in the valleys has thinned to mist since the cloud spread over.

No wind at all at 1800, the first time we've had a calm at an observation time since April 13th 2005 and the first time at 1800 since August 9th 2004.

Mostly another cold and foggy day, although the fog thinned for an hour late this morning and we had a little sunshine, during which time the temperature rose to 0.9c. It didn't last long though, the fog returned suddenly around 1:30pm and the temperature dipped to freezing again by 3:pm.

Since nightfall the fog has thinned again as it has become overcast, the temperature is again on the rise and has just reached the highest value of the day, 1c.
