Im going for 1.9C.

Why you may ask? well I keep predicting this so im bound to get it right so time

Seriously though a month very much dominated by blocking bringing alternating E,lys, N'lys. Next month could be very special indeed.

It's about time I had a crack at this. Winter seems to come later and later every year, but February has generally produced over the past few years and is the most likely month for cold. Even so, I am not convinced that there will be a belter this year. Straight 4.0 for me.

4.0ºC for me please.

Average start - then colder spell with northern blocking/high over us with inversions - but SSTAs and cloudy nights keeping it above average (just).

The average February return for the last 10 years is 5.5, based on a declining El Nino, recurring blocking themes in and out of the models and a 'last chance saloon' deduction thrown in, I'll go for the 71-00 average of 4.2 please.

Hmmmm, interesting!!

Lots of people going for low temps and ordinarily I would agree......BUT!!!!!

I have a feeling that we are going to miss out on a cold month but only just, with the proper cold ending up across the near continent ;) where we get the outer edges of any siberian / arctic blast. Couple that with some above average conditions and I arrive at a tentative, and not yet official, punt of 5.4c

Mind, that's not my official forecast, I'll put that off until next week!
