Morning all, interesting 06Z GFS so far (up to T+54), with suggestions of the general synoptic pattern being slightly further west once again. Intense cold building over Scandinavia, which is what we want to see.

ECM concerns me this morning, and it must not be discounted. Still huge differences between the models as early as T+72, so it could go either way.

Looks like a few snow showers in Eastern England from the initial easterly on Tuesday evening..

Slightly less pressure rises in Scandy at 72hrs..

I'm still loving this run the cold is deeper and much further southwest..

Much better for prospects of breakdwon snow.. pressure beginning to rise at 78hrs

Its a cracker so far - protective bubble of -5 air holding at T72

Fascinating GFS 06Z up to 90 hours. I'm really beginning to think we *could* be on the verge of a major cold spell from the east.

OK, i am no expert so a question here - lp over East Europe propping up the Scandi, fairly S tracking jet... some potential here for the Atlantic to undercut the HP? Draw in a more robust Easterly?

Wonderful to watch isn't it.

What with the ECM output and now the GFS currently continuing the trend of rising heights, throw in the UKMO this makes brilliant viewing.

I liked your comment last night that when models struggle as much as they are you know something is brewing ( something like that anyway).

Snow across northern and northeastern Ireland.. just about here!

How far will it travel into the uk do you think before being halted by the high to the east???

There is plenty of potential, yes. Its still to early to be sure of what will happen, virtually any option is still a possibility.

that low from the atlantic and the ppn is so heavy, I think on this run it might make it across the country. Winds could also be a problem come thursday. I think the battle ground is back on.

Possibly, but keep an eye on those rising heights to the west of Norway.

Heavy snow into Britain.. abit borderline pour moi.. but ya never know..

Possibly, temps could just be on the marginal side for lower levels like mine, but anyone with some elevation should be fine I would have have thought.
