Temps drop sharply after sunset but seem to have levelled somewhat now. 0.5c warmer than this time last night...

Actually- this is clearer with indoor temps not graphed!

I'm closely watching an area of snow off the East coast of Scotland which seems to be slowly moving NW, gradually encroaching on Aberdeen, probably between 8-8.30 it will make landfall. There's a good 2" in that cell.

Yeah, moderate snow now falling here. :o

I know everyone`s concentrating on the snow now but I`ve just looked at the temps progged for the weekened and it`s still very cold but milder further SE the weekened is going to be a nightmare to forecast what comes if the 12z run came off. :)

I have a real feeling that this will be a non event for anywhere north of Birmingham :o

Im sure there will be snow! although it does look good for southern parts of the west midlands, worcestershire and other surrounding areas!

I would be very surpriced and if i was in your location and it was snowing at 10 i'll be slightly concerened. 8 hours ahead of scheldue? It would mean that the cold air is weak and this front will be alot futher North than forecasted. However i don't think this is the case.

Hi Brian

A little nearer the coast here, now -2.2

Hi there, Edge of the moors. I'm not expecting much for us from this,

but it's not going to stop me watching how things develop during the night.

I also have one eye on the weekend which gives better prospects for us.

So I will be watching the models closely tonight which will hopefully extend the cold and give

us a shot at something better.

I'm a little more confident of that happening than I was earlier. as the MetO

charts weren't looking too bad this evening.

so fingeres crossed.

Brian. :o

BAD NEWS - Raining here with just a smidge of sleetiness.

GOOD NEWS - Temp was up to +3.6 but has now fallen 0.8 in half an hour to +2.8 and the dew point is still low.

Where in Dublin are you Doc?

Blizzards the front is likely to stall now for a bit, id say you might see your first bit of snow around 3am at the earliest.

Looking at the radar, you can see the pivoting point in Ireland, if you follow the mouse across, you can expect the northern extent of the front to be somewhere in west or north Yorkshire.
