We`ve had rain/showers also with some thick fog an hour ago,it`s cleared up now,it`s still cold fairly here at 5.2c so it`s still a cold thaw here aswell around 20% cover with all the snow by the hedges/drifts..some very steeps fields opposite here are still covered over with snow, measured some in the shade where it hadn`t drifted with still 3 inches :good: very sheltered there with lots of trees surrounding, light winds too.

I see the weight of the snow did some damage too half uprooted a blackthorn tree and it did take the top of our damson tree off even after shaking the snow off the night before the freezing fog came that night and the snow got heavier as the temp rose slightly.

A very similar day to yesterday which in 3 words can be described as 'sunshine and showers.' Windy this afternoon with gale force gusts, max 8c.

Bright but cloudy at dusk, 7c now.

(if yesterday's 14c was wrong, the thermometer is back to normal now as today's temp correlates to local Met stations :drinks: ).

A mainly cloudy day with fewer and lighter showers than I was expecting. A few short sunny intervals during late morning with the majority of the showers throughout the afternoon. Light-moderate winds for most of the day but as the low pulled away eastward during late afternoon the wind increased almost to gale force.

The thaw of lying snow has continued all day but there are still numerous drifts under the walls and in hollows.

    Temp' at 1800, 5.1c after a max' of 7.2c.

7 oktas cumulus and stratus fractus with a light shower falling.

    Wind at 1800, 26 mph W.

Highest gust today 59 mph at 1709.

    Rainfall from 0900-1800, 1.0 mm

    Sunshine today, 0.23 hrs

    Vis' at 1800, 25 miles.

    • Exceptional warmth for western Europe as October begins

There'll be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year affecting much of western Europe during the coming days, but that warmth will only graze the UK for now. Next weekend may see a more direct hit with the potential for southerly winds to draw some of that heat north and take temperatures into the mid or high-twenties. Read the full update here

Wind and rain before Spanish heat arrives for the weekend

There will be downpours into Tuesday with blustery winds picking up. Western Scotland will see a wet few days later this week. Then heat from Spain will surge up from the south giving a warm weekend. Read the full update here
