January was the warmest globally ever recorded

Just look how cold parts of the USA was last month...

34th coldest February ever. Six states were warmer then average. Alaska was 42nd warmest on record (0.8c above normal)

Two states were tied in the 4th coldest February on record.

Only just seen this!

34th coldest ever does not actually sound all that impressive when compared with the fact that there are only 113 on record!

What is impressive is that Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania all managed to record a top ten coldest February following on from a top ten warmest December and early January. Winter as a whole was average to just above average across much of the Eastern US:
