Cyclone Favio is bearing down on Mozambique. It is currently a cat 4 on the saffir-simpson scale. I think this is going to be disasterous. Landfall due tomorrow night.

As you can see, Favio has spent most of it's time a a moderate tropical cyclone, and it has since bombed very quickly, central pressure was as low as 928mb, now back up to 940mb, regardless of this- this is still a very dangerous storm. I doubt it will make international news though- despite the fact I think it will cause fatalities.

Thanks for the links.

One to keep a very close eye on. Sustained winds of 144 mph, gusting to 173 mph - a monster. Forecast to remain a cat 4 on landfall, widespread devastation seems likely. I doubt very much Mozambique will be able to cope with Favio at all.

Indeed. Favio has weakened to a category 3 now, but still packing some intense rainfall and winds.

More worrying still is two more tropical storms have formed today, Gamede and 16S, this is certainly a very active period for the southern ocean!!

Very near landfall now. I don't know what conditions are like in Mozambique at the moment. Pressure dropped again since last update, now 935mb.

Mozambique could do without the high rainfall totals.

Thanks for the link Supercell. Yes, it appears they were already suffering from flooding before Favio decided to crash into them. I hope they cope to the best of their ability with this system, bad timing to say the least!
