Good morning all.

i have a problem with my garden. all my grass has disappered. it has happened over the space of a couple of days and now there is nothing there all except mud.

when it rains a load of black worms come out of the grass.

if anyones knows what has happened or could give me some advice then that would be great.

cheers guys

Seeing as you are sooo close to the sea and this year has been quite 'stormy' could salt laden spray be the reason??? If it collected on your ground then that'd do for the grass (unless it was 'dune grass'!!!) Look at what the Romans did to the productive land around Carthage with salt!!!

that could be a good point.

but if that was the reason would everyones else grass be the same..

our house is the only one it has happened to ...

i will post a picture of it in a bit

Is any grass there, yellow, brown or withered or has it just disappeared....any marks

where a turf cutter has been? grass just does not disappear !

Just read on another site about bermuda grass not being shade tolerant, and i do know that you have to get

a certain type of grass for shaded areas as some will survive where others do not.

How long have you had it and is it in the shade, even if it is shaded by fence panels, some grasses do not like it.

Oh god! I have absolutely no idea and I'm paid to go out and troubleshoot these sort of problems sometimes.

The pictures are not that clear but to me it seems that this has been ongoing for a while Grass does not disapear overnight unless you have lots of Rabbits. Waterloged grass will always recover as the roots will be at least 2-3 inches in the ground. wait 3-4 weeks to see if this recovers else turf it

I like to sow my seed all year round, but find the best results happen either in the autumn and right about now.

This happened to us. Only a small patch of grass though. My dad was not very impressed with the wine he purchased from the local happy shopper, so he poured it over the lawn. The next morning, the grass had gone and all flora and fauna within a 2 metre radius had withered and died. Thankfully, I avoided the liebfraumilch.

Used any dodgey weedkiller recently?

Other than that all i can suggest is that someone smoked it.

would it be better to let the ground dry out a little before sowing the seed? How wet is it? You don't want it to just rot.

Beginning of April it might have a bit more warmth to it too.

Just a thought

It really does look like someone has just skimmed the grass off!
