    Hi all

Family have gone out to Tampa in Florida for 3 weeks and a fire weather watch and red flag warning has been issued. Can someone tell me what these mean please? Many thanks in advance.

    Found this Geri.

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS

ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. THE COMBINATION OF

STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL

    CREATE RAPID FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

A FIRE WEATHER WATCH MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS

ARE FORECAST TO OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS...LOW

RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE RAPID FIRE

    GROWTH POTENTIAL.

Yeah its a fire risks warning. Usually includes no open fires and BBQs in wooded areas.

Yeah its a fire risks warning. Usually includes no open fires and BBQs in wooded areas.

And also against the law to throw cigarette butts out of the window. Most of Oklahoma and Texas were on Fire Alert for most of last spring.

Given the lack of winter rainfall in the South West I'd expect a particularly bad fire season around Southern California this year. Also areas of Montana and Wyoming are still suffering from drought.

Remind me to take my brother to Texas next summer. He's a heavy smoker.

    The USA???

There was a large moor fire up on Rishworth moor by the M62 the other weekend when it was warm.

Can't find a link but it was in the local papers, a fairly large area covered too.
