This supercell is huge 70x25 miles, so slow moving too!

How long till it drops a nado potty?

Damn!! Those storms over to the south east of their location must be sapping the life out of our cell.. Just lost its tornado warning after all this time... Still has severe thunderstorm warning though..

New tornado warned area in those storms between Milano and Caldwell..

On the sat image you posted i thought

it was running a bit too close to those

storms to south east, still at least the

first timers have seen an impressive 48,000ft

cell, must be an awsome sight..

Must still be a cracking storm NL.. Never know, it might get some energy back if the other storms push off quickly.

Look at that hook.. Surely there has to be another warning there..?!?

Still moving at a snails pace,!! only travelled fifty odd mile in 4 hours.....

Moving westwards heres an explanation of sorts from wilkpedia..

Supercells are usually found isolated from other thunderstorms, although they can sometimes be embedded in a squall line. Because they can last for hours, they are known as quasi-steady-state storms. Supercells have the capability to deviate from the mean wind. If they track to the right of the mean wind (relative to the vertical wind shear), they are said to be "right-movers." Alternatively, if they track to the left of the mean wind (relative to the shear), they are said to be "left-movers."

I think what's happening is the leading edge is being eaten away by the Shermanator's portable storm shield while it's trying to back build.. ;)

That CIN generator works really well.. ;)

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0640

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

0708 PM CDT TUE MAY 01 2007

AREAS AFFECTED...SCNTRL TX

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 207...

VALID 020008Z - 020145Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 207 CONTINUES.

CONDITIONS REMAIN RIPE FOR A FEW INTENSE STORMS WITH TORNADO

POTENTIAL...VERY LARGE HAIL...AND FLOODING RAINS...ACROSS PARTS OF

SCNTRL TX THIS EVENING.

CURRENTLY...MOST INTENSE ACTIVITY WAS FOCUSED ALONG RESIDUAL OUTFLOW

BOUNDARY WHERE ONE PARTICULARLY LONG-LIVED SUPERCELL WAS ANCHORED

OVER MASON COUNTY. ADDITIONAL STRONG TO OCCASIONALLY SEVERE ACTIVITY

WAS NOTED IN BURLESON COUNTY WHERE STRONGER LOW LEVEL JET IS FOCUSED

INTO THE BOUNDARY AND SHOULD SUPPORT EXCESSIVE RAIN FROM REPEAT

CONVECTION. VERY STRONG INSTABILITY RESIDES ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE

OUTFLOW AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO FUEL TSTM ACTIVITY THIS EVENING.

REGION IS BENEATH THE SRN PERIPHERY OF MODEST WLY MID LEVEL FLOW

/ABOUT 40KT/. FURTHERMORE...DIRECTIONAL SHEAR...ESPECIALLY INVOF THE

OUTFLOW...IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE TO SUSTAIN LOW LEVEL MESOCYCLONES

AND A TORNADO OR TWO FOR CELLS REMAINING NEAR THIS FEATURE.

UNLESS STORM SCALE INTERACTIONS LEAD TO UPSCALE DEVELOPMENT...IT

CURRENTLY APPEARS THAT CONVECTION MAY NOT INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY IN

COVERAGE THROUGH LATER TONIGHT. STRONGER LARGE SCALE DYNAMICS

SUPPORTING MORE WIDESPREAD ASCENT ACROSS THE REGION APPEAR TO BE

WEAKENING ATTM AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT ADDITIONAL WATCHES WILL

BE NEEDED.

Quick post...

What a day! We followed that supercell from 3:30pm til 9:00pm. At times it had some awesome structure and is now producing an excellent lightning display. We've got all sorts of pictures to share with you guys, and Paul will be on later with a post once we've had chance to recover.

We are now sat in Fredericksburg in a motel preparing to get a bite to eat.

Look out for more information in the reports thread later this evening (morning for you guys)
