its still raining, not stopped since it started about 1220 yesterday! My wettest period since I got my weather station in October 2004. 20.0mm yesterday from 1220-2400 and on 4.4mm at the moment. A cold northerly with it now with temp at 7.8C

[Thundery wintry showers]

Cloudy morning with the odd bit of brightness and scattered light showers, then we had a long dry sunny spell with showers staying away from the coast. However, the wind direction has changed to a north-westerly and there are some beefy looking showers heading Cleadon's way; I'm pretty sure I can see hail shafts from the Cb cells as well, and Rollo has just reported a T-storm from within the cloud. Temp 11.7C and waiting for some excitement.

The day started cool, windy, dull and damp.

The cloud slowly cleared and the afternoon into this evening has been quite sunny, although there was a sharp shower an hour or so ago.

Max 14c, temp now 12c.

Yesterday's heavy rain eventually died out around 2130 yesterday evening and much of the night was dry until further light rain arrived before dawn. This cleared by mid-morning and, apart from one light shower, the afternoon was dry with sunny intervals.

Temp' at 1800 was 9.9c after an overnight min' of 6.5c and a max' today of 11.4c.

Rainfall for the 24 hours ended 0900 today was 37.1mm.

[Northernlights]

Cold here now this evening 5c, mod NW wind ,some very sharp showers this afternoon, must have fallen as snow on the mountains as there is still snow on the top Cairngorm webcam. Beautiful sky to the north this evening with large shower cumulus reflecting a range of colurs in the sunshine.Very clear air, excellent visibilities, can see the cliffs at Dunbeath on the north side of the Moray Firth ,this does not occur very often. In fact the sky is looking more wintry than it did for most of last winter but this is not unusual at this time of year up here in fact yesterday evening was similar also, perhaps another frost tonight.
