Interesting tornado warned discrete cell down in the far SE of Oklahoma headed for the AR border, crap chase country with alot of hills around though:

* TORNADO WARNING FOR...

NORTHERN MCCURTAIN COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA...

* UNTIL 615 PM CDT

* AT 549 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO NEAR BETHEL...OR

ABOUT 33 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CLAYTON...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH.

* THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR...

BETHEL BY 600 PM CDT...

9 MILES SOUTHWEST OF SMITHVILLE BY 615 PM CDT...

THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE DURING A TORNADO IS IN A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A

WORKBENCH OR OTHER PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE. IF NO BASEMENT IS

AVAILABLE...SEEK SHELTER ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF THE BUILDING IN AN

INTERIOR HALLWAY OR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET. USE BLANKETS OR PILLOWS TO

Been reports of tornado damage at Mt Vernon just West of Springfield, MO. An interesting tornadic looking cell moving NE there too recently:

Someone took a picture of a tornado near Willard, MO at about 615pm CDT.

Looks interesting here in Chicago tomorrow. Severe Storm risk moderate for much of Illinois, the whole of Indiana, SW Michigan and SE Wisconsin. I have my good camera with me, but am working late, so probably not much chance of getting lightning shots! If I was in the other building, on the 45th Floor it would be good, but only the 21st...

We're under a tornado watch here in Chicago. A strong storm has just passed through; I could just make out the other side of the street from the building I'm in:

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM CDT FOR EAST CENTRAL COOK COUNTY...

AT 523 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO INDICATE A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL...AND DESTRUCTIVE WINDS IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR BLUE ISLAND...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 55 MPH.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL BE NEAR... NORTHERLY ISLAND...NAVY PIER AND DOWNTOWN CHICAGO BY 535 PM CDT... A TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA. IF A TORNADO IS SPOTTED... ACT QUICKLY AND MOVE TO A PLACE OF SAFETY IN A STURDY STRUCTURE...SUCH AS A BASEMENT OR SMALL INTERIOR ROOM.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM. IF YOU ARE IN ITS PATH...PREPARE IMMEDIATELY FOR DAMAGING WINDS...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL... AND DEADLY CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING. PEOPLE OUTSIDE SHOULD MOVE TO A SHELTER... PREFERABLY INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING BUT AWAY FROM WINDOWS.

QUARTER SIZE HAIL WAS REPORTED IN ALSIP AT 522 PM.

This storm popped up very quickly!

About 20 minutes ago, Light was still good, and a Huge Wall Cloud descended, then a line of Green Power Flashes lit up the horizon, I could swear i was seeing a rain wrapped Tornado in there as well.

I wondered where everyone was hiding tonight! A line of storms passing just to the SE of Chicago. I can see constant lightning just out over the lake.
