3 rumbles of thunder between 1 and 2 pm(lunch!) heavy rain for a few minutes, `heavy spotting' around it. The cell seemed to pass mainly to the north east of us. I reckon Newcastleunder Lyme/Stoke on Trent bore the brunt.

Wow. Thunder in Edinburgh. That'll be it for the year then :drinks:

Edit: Spectacular fork lightning, loud thunder cracks everything. What a treat.

Showers have reached the South Shields/Sunderland area, and a big one just inland from the coast produced a long rumble of thunder.

Thus, the first thunder I was aware of hearing of 2007 so far, though my sister reported lightning and a loud clap of thunder just after midnight on 26/27 May (which I can believe, because I remember noting torrential convective rain about twenty minutes earlier)

A number of storms today, first to the west about 1.30pm (over Northampton) then one just to the east about an hour later. At least 20+ rumbles of thunder a few flashes from these though not directly overhead. After that, thought that was it as clearly skies to the southern horizon with no development there but towers continued to grow directly overhead giving a few more torrential downpours. Now got a thunderstorm just to the west, very dark intermittant rumbles of thunder and a few flashes. Not much left on the radar apart from round here it would seem.

Heard some thunder to the east of here at 2pm. Very heavy and slow moving showers that only just clipped us here.
