After had several looks at the coming cloud here i have to say its looks quite weak and decaying but who knows i guess we have to wait and see.

Very dissapointed with today as i expected more than mostly wall to wall sunshine and well i bet the look north presenter this morning will feel like a right twit now by saying conditions will get worse, But we are all human so we can have our faults.

Just had a call from my grand-dad, said his house got struck by lightning in Brum.

Lost power to his TV too.

Gee PP, for someone who maons a lot things sure get close to you. Your Grand-dad's house today and, what was it last year, a neighbour's property? Don't moan too much, maybe Mother Nature's coming to get you!

A question for those in the know ; why was it that this morning had a lot of lower level cloud as well as the developing showers/storms, whereas since around midday the amounts of lower level cloud have decreased significantly, therefore allowing better views of the CBs?

Evening Nigel!

Like i said in my other post its looks quite weak and decaying so i'm not expecting much of it. After such an promiceing start this morning with it being sunny then the clouds bubbled up i thought we would of seen some showers at least, instead the sun turned slightly hazy and we had wall to wall sunshine mostly which i was quite surpriced.

What did look north say about the thunder tonight and tomorrow like? I would assume that there be no risk now??

I knew i shoulda chased that cell!!! Thunderstorm over glasgow... Although i think it's just thunderstorm rain?

I think that symbol is for thunder aswell, but as the X is thunder, that it makes it rather confusing

It definitely looks like it now on blitzotung and others b/w

Showers mostly steering to the west of Tyne&Wear, a few weak ones entered West Durham but they are breaking up with the general decrease in instability.

Intersting developments around this area in the last hour or so, thought all the convection had moved north by now. In the last hour seen a few TCu's develop to my north one of while has grown a full blown anvil as it's moved off towards northamptonshire. Met radar is showing some very heavy precip from it on the last update, probably gonna fire up the old electrics before sundown, so all those in northants / notts keep your eyes peeled

I heard it too and seen the flash, must have been quite close to me.

The thunder was about 2-3 seconds after the flash.

Looks like theres another storm heading this way after this little one passes 8)

There is another one on the 5min radar to our S/SE but it seems to be losing a bit strength now.

It could give another rumble or two though, or it could disappear altogether.

If it does make it hear I would estimate it will be about 30 minutes time. 8)

If its the one i'm think of its looks like missing my area. Is it just typical the showers decided come at the end of the day? 8)

I think the electrified cell is moving to the west of Newcastle, the one overhead here on the coast is just heavy rain..
