Wet and windy start for Scotland and Northern Ireland, but sunny spells and scattered showers will spread from the west. England and Wales rather cloudy with a few bright spells, patchy rain reaching the north and west later.

Monday night

Rain, initially over northern and western England and Wales will spread southeastwards. The rain becoming heavy and persistent over southwest England during the early hours. Scattered showers over northwestern Britain.

Tuesday day

Patchy rain will become heavy and persistent for parts of southern Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and southwest England. Elsewhere should be largely dry with some sunshine, although showers will affect northwestern UK.

Tuesday night

Heavy rain across southern parts of England and Wales will clear all but the far southeast by the end of the night. Turning chilly elsewhere with clearer skies. Ground frost possible in the north.

Wednesday day

Long sunny spells across the much of the UK, but feeling cooler in the northwesterly breeze. A few light showers may affect northern Scotland. Temperatures falling sharply during the evening, with overnight frost likely.

Wednesday night

The breeze will fall light and showers die out. Except, that is, along the Northe Sea coast. Inland frost will be widespread but fog rather rare and patchy.

Thursday day

A chilly start with patchy frost and fog. Most areas having a fine autumnal day with a good deal of sunshine and small amounts of cloud. A cool day but pleasant enough in the sunshine.

Thursday night

A cold night with a widespread frost on the ground. Cloud in western Scotland will thicken and bring rain to highland Scotland with hill top snow - all in small amounts.

Friday day

England and Wales dry with long spells of bright sunshine and light winds. Cloudier at times over Northern Ireland and Scotland, some patchy rain for the Western Isles and Northwest Highlands.

Friday night

Frost returning to many parts of England and Wales, together with a few fog patches. Milder for Scotland and Northern Ireland with rather more cloud and breeze.

Saturday day

Patchy frost and fog will clear from inland parts of England and Wales to give a dry day with plenty of sunshine. Scotland and Northern Ireland will also have some sunny spells, but it will be breezy in the west.

Saturday night

Scotland and Northern Ireland will be dry with a fair amount of cloud. England and Wales will again have decent clear spells, which will allow patchy frost and fog to form inland by dawn.

Any dense patches of fog will clear from England and Wales to leave a dry and fine day with lots of sunshine. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be fairly cloudy and breezy, with the best of any brightness in the far east.

Sunday night

Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cloudy and breezy, with outbreaks of rain reaching many western areas. England and Wales will have more cloud than recent nights, but still patchy frost and fog where the cloud breaks.

Clearing skies across many parts allowing patchy mist and a rural ground frost. Cloud and brisk breezes will keep it milder further northwest where spots of drizzle are likely.

The far northwest of Scotland cloudy, mild and mainly dry. Elsewhere, dry, with clear spells. Becoming cold with a touch of frost in places and patchy mist and fog.

Scotland and Northern Ireland dry and mostly sunny but some fog patches slow to clear and reforming in places this evening. England and Wales also mainly dry but cloud continuing to spread from the east after early sunshine.

Scotland, Northern Ireland, dry, broken cloud, patchy fog and frost. England and Wales mostly cloudy, a little rain and drizzle in places, some cloud breaks possible in sheltered western parts.

Thursday night

Largely dry, cloudy and frost free overnight. A strengthening southerly wind will introduce rain to northwestern fringes of Scotland and Northern Ireland later in the night.

Squally winds and heavy rain over Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England for a time. Elsewhere, cloudy breezy and mild with spots of drizzle.

Rain will spread southeastwards across England and Wales. Sunshine and showers in Northern Ireland and Scotland will then spread to most places by evening. Feeling fresher as the rain clears, with brisk winds easing.

Sunday night

Any remaining rain in the southeast will clear, then all areas will be breezy with clear spells and showers, some of these heavy and blustery.

Again a night extensively cloudy and mild. Hill fog is likely. A little drizzle will fall in northwest England and Wales; rain in western Scotland.

Scotland will have a dry, breezy and cold night. Rain will fall in Northern Ireland and northern England. It will remain cloudy and mild for the rest of England and Wales. Fog will reform.

Most places will be dry with fog patches becoming more widespread and locally dense. Outbreaks of rain will edge southwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland on brisk southwesterly winds.

Still very windy, especially in the north and east. Snow showers over Northern Scotland. A few showers are likely in north Wales and along the east coast of England. Elsewhere dry and cold under clear skies
