Ignore any cold event?!!! What about every time it sleets in Kent?

Well, down here we call it sleet even it settles to 10 foot drifts. That's the difference between the woosies up north, and the real men down south B)

We have records for a tiny slice of time, we break records every year with or without GW (remember 1976), the wettest, the sunniest, the warmest, the hottest and so on. Its like having 2 weeks weather records and stating today was the warmest recorded, tomorrow could be the wettest day.

How many coldest records have we broken in recent years ;)

Anyway, if we're going to go down that line then I guarantee we won't break any more records for the next 1,000 years - since the warmest and wettest days were back in 95,450,760BC and the coldest in 22,789BC B)

Which proves absolutely nothing ;)

And as for the 'imminent ice age' scare of the 70s ....... the next ice age is indeed imminent. Nothing has changed. Global Warming would need to continue for a good 50,000 years before we might start talking about there not being glaciers in England again in the foreseeable (geological) future ;)

Do you not think that in another few years or so, the current concept might be looking very silly? Genuine query, no offence intended. B)

No offence taken, Noggin. The answer is no. Science doesn't work like that. The fundementals of AGW are now so well established, with theory based on experiment supported by observation*, that discussion has moved on. We are now concentrating on just where and when what effects will be seen, what we can do to stop it, what we can do to adapt to it and how we can develop the political and social structures to take action.

*You've seen today's news?

Judging from some of the posts on this boards you'd think the folk believed that the Universe was created 6000 years ago ;)

No you don't. You moan and complain about one flake hitting the ground and brings the infastructure to a stand-still, whilst us up north are used to more snow and don't moan.

;)
