I was just wondering about this, thinking back to July last year and how different the weather has been this time round:

    Scanning the CET data I can find a drop of 4.8C between June 1976 and 1977 (17.0 vs 12.2) and 4.6C between August 1955 and 1956 (18.1 vs 13.5), and a massive 5.3C between August 1911 and 1912 (18.2 vs 12.9); July's record seems to be 4.8C between 1921 and 1922 (18.5 vs 13.7).

We need to get below 14.4 to take what looks like the all-time record, and 14.9 for the July record- the latter might just be possible if it doesn't get warmer soon?
