    Is it unusual for the birds to be already practicing their flights for migration?

    It's something i usually notice in late August but this year for the past week big crowds of birds have been doing their rounds, landing on the huge pine tree on my road and flocking back to the wooded area up the road.

    Is this peculiar?

    It means this will will be the winter we have been waiting for.

    Depends on the species, but an idea would be the weather is not suitable for a second brood, so they are getting ready to leave/
