London apparently getting melted with lightning according to the detector. Its interrupting my viewing of the golf!

Where I am as usual overcast cold..

In this pic some interesting cloud formation over London and South East, also to North West of Mainland UK there is a strange looking bank of cloud that looks like it is rolling over itself??

An absolutely torrential downpour just now - very dark with thunder and the place is flooded - the conservatory is leaking!!!!

Brightened up a touch now, very dark to the west and south, I think the worst is over now.

20mm in that downpour!

14.9c with a strong easterly wind really driving the rain.

UPDATE

MASSIVE LIGHTNING STRIKE JUST NORTH - HUGE THUNDER AND TORRENTIAL RAIN AGAIN

Only had about 8mm so far today, but despite this it feels quite mild, I thought it would feel colder than it does. Certainly not the deluge down south, here it is literally merely drizzle.

Rain has stopped abruptly - just like they're showing on TV at Lords, it's brightening up and I couldn't believe it when i saw the sun come out! The rain seems to have quickly moved west and curled around on it's centre point in the south midlands. Disappointed in terms of thundery rain they forecast, but still got drenched. Nothing quite as bad as is still over to the west. 15.1c, winds eased.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
