Seems a while since I started a new thread but during this summer the focus has been on either the CET or rainfall so im interested to see what max temps you have recorded so far.

Apart from the amazing rainfall totals, lack of sunshine another feature of this dreadful summer has been the low max temps. Here in Peterborough the highest max temp recorded so far has been 23C!. This I find amazing especially here in Cambs where temps of 25C are frequently recorded during the summer months. Infact just to show how poor this summer has been 25C has often been recorded during April, May, so the fact that we are now entering August with a max temp of 23C is simply incredible.

Please could you post what your max temps have been so far this year. I was going to say summer but then realised we haven't had one and could find your max temps being recorded in April :)

Made 21.4c in april and 24.1c June 11th but on my old mercury thermometer it hasn`t got above 20c yet which is very unusual makes 23-26c on a normal summer as a rule..don`t know why those always read temps lower but it is under a tree, and I did make 31c last year on it!!!

Hi TEITS, seems a bit daft even having this thread, when all the highs came in the spring not the summer.

Haven't been able to record a summer temp' - my rainfall monitor has been washed away !!

    26 something... in April.

    Erm....April is not summer.

That goes for the rest of you quoting April maxima too. Doesn't count.

not sure anywhere had got that high this year

Well, you cant rule out the odd isolated hot spot. Still....a large outlier temp wise compared to the rest of that region.

Not much better here in the Arid South East of Essex, still only 322mm of rain but those temps have been hard to come by

    1st # 16th July 2007 with 24.3c

    2nd # 13th June 2007 with 24.2c

    3rd # 9th June 2007 with 23.9c

Shocking really with August merely a few days away

22.4C, 20 June. The first summer since 1993 that 24C has not been exceeded here by 29 July. 1993 exceeded 23C, so we have to go back to before then to find the last summer during which 23C was not breached by this time.

I suspect this would be on a par with Sunderland's maximum where I work, but perhaps a little lower than Newcastle's where I live? But all in all what a shockingly woeful figure, no wonder I haven't yet had a day where I haven't needed to wear a jacket or coat!

Perhaps we might record a 25 celsius this year?

It was probably recorded in a sun-trap or patio...or the thermometer was likely faulty.

24.8c @ 1531 3rd June was my max this year. Was a perfect summers day - warm, sunny, humid and a warm evening followed allowing us to sit out with the bbq till 11pm without getting cold!
