OUr garden looks like the middle of last summer well not last the summer before that. Bone dry and again no sign of any proper rain in the future.

This dry period is getting a bit worrying now. Everything is drying up. We need a good amount of rain sometime this winter or the summer could be seriously dry. Not even the summer was particularly wet here as the stormshield murdered any storms.

Went up to Ladybower today and that was fairly low. Didn't look at the next dam up as rain was coming down (Light) and time was pressing but earlier on this year that was being drained into lady bower to keep the level up.

There's certainly the potential for this to be the driest autumn on record locally, 101.9 mm so far and the record is 149.1 mm in 1978. The models persistently show high pressure lasting until at least the end of the third week of November so unless there's a dramatic reversal of fortune it will be close.

Funny isn't it we were going for the wettest year ever at one time. Thats now off unless December gets really silly. So we could have the wettest ever summer followed by either the driest autumn ever so or one of the driest autumns ever.

And people say our climate is boring!

101.9mm? That is just a dribble. According to NW Extra my area has had almost 3000mm of rain in the last year. B) And I can well believe it :) .

Well, yes 101.9 mm is but a dribble here too when compared with an average autumn. As for 3000mm, I can only dream of such amounts; we're about 3mm short of 1000 this year and if it's a wet December could scrape 1200mm.

Rain on Sunday may put a big hole in it though if it hangs around like they say.

Looking at those stats Mr Data, & the one's you did for the wettest Summer on record. 2007 stands alone as the only year in our current "Modern" climate in the top 10 or even top 20.

You can only draw one conclusion from that, that this year has bucked the "Modern" climate trend.

Lets hope it continues.

Good stats as alway Mr Data.

Could be off the list by the end of the month. Plenty of rain forecast this week it could be an amazing turn around.
