This year is turning out to be VERY strange.

Snow in hot places.

Hot in cool places.

Wet in dry places.

The worlds turned upside down... Did the polarity of the planet swap and no one notice?

Wel lthere you go I suppose, it was an estimated EF2, close to some of the larger tornadoes we've seen here in the last 2-3 years (the B'ham tornado I believe was about an EF2)

It was also the first tornado ever recorded in Brooklyn.

It's been pretty dry (most rain has come from downpours in thunderstorms) but not hot; the July temperature was just below average and June just about average. It has really been a pretty good summer so far. There has been more heat whilst I was over in the UK, but this seems to have now eased off.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
