    Heres Brisbane forecast

Thursday Fine Min 13 Max 25

Friday Fine, increasing high cloud Min 13 Max 25

Saturday Rain developing Min 13 Max 22

Sunday Rain periods Min 14 Max 20

Monday Mostly fine, windy Min 12 Max 21

Additional GFS models compared to this event: http://forecasts.bsch.au.com/apf.html?regi...us&days=7.5

    Quote from BoM

A new upper trough will amplify into south-eastern Australia on Saturday and

then move off the coast on Monday. This trough will reinvigorate the cloud band,

resulting in thickening cloud with rain areas extending across central and

    south-eastern areas of the state.

Hopefully we get some good falls to get rid of this water restrictions. Total rainfall for August is now 30mm. Hopefully to get drenched!

Today was the worse day of so heavy rainfalls with potentially damaging wind gusts, some gusts went over 95km/hr here while Byron Bay scored over 120km/hr! Our school was useless, it still open and theres so much debris and water everywhere there. Few people got injured there, got hit by tree and even got soaked. I just don't know why our school doesn't take it seriously? This THIS dangerous! People got hurt! Look at the weather and learn it! Over 200mm of rain here so far and the record seems broke already for August. More rain coming now from N and E with continuing severe gales.

Winds cause chaos in northern NSW, Qld

Gale-force winds have brought down powerlines and trees on the New South Wales north coast, causing problems for residents and motorists.

State Emergency Service (SES) spokesman Scott Hanckel says the winds caused a number of problems for residents and motorists in the Northern Rivers region and far north coast.

Byron Bay recorded gusts of 120 kilometres per hour, equivalent to a category 2 cyclone.

Mr Hanckel says there have been 34 calls for help from residents who have had trees fall on or near their properties.

He says debris is also a major concern on local roads.

"The greatest risk at the moment is people moving around the region on the roads," he said.

"There's been at least one serious accident in the Ballina area this morning.

"People need to take extreme caution on the roads, coming across water on the road but also the windy and bad visibility and the possibility of finding trees on the road as they drive around."

Queensland's Gold Coast is also being buffeted by strong winds which are being generated by the low pressure system travelling up the coast.

Lifeguards have closed the beaches and the Air Sea Rescue service is reporting winds are gusting up to 33 knots at Point Danger.

The Bureau of Meteorology's Tony Wedd says the system is travelling slowly and should reach Brisbane this afternoon.

"The winds are now moving into the southern Gold Coast," he said.

"We've seen the automatic station at Coolangatta start to record some not extreme gusts, but we must keep in mind that [winds are recorded at] Coolangatta Airport where their wind instrument is fairly sheltered from the south-east."

Energex says there is no power out on the Gold Coast.

    EXTENDED OUTLOOK

The weather across the state next week will be dominated by a series of cold fronts which will move across southern and central areas of the state. The first will move across the west of the state during Monday and reach most eastern districts on Tuesday. The front will split on Wednesday with the southern section moving off the southern coast while the northern section will come to a halt over the tropical inland. In the wake of the front a high will move across northern NSW and southern Qld reaching the southern coral Sea on Thursday. The next front will then spread across most western and southern areas of the state during Friday and Saturday.

Some middle to high cloud with showers and storms with possible rain will

develop over the southern and south-east interior on Monday and then contract across the south-east corner on Tuesday before clearing seawards. The following high will then spread dry and cooler air across southern and central areas of the state. Warmer N'ly winds over southern and central Qld will precede the front during Monday and Tuesday and become fresh to strong along the far southern coast during Tuesday. As the following high moves into and across the southern Coral Sea late in the week winds will again shift warmer N'ly over western central and southern districts. A cloud band will accompany this front eastwards as will some showers and storms.

Good start from today, we had 5mm out of small moderate shower which this is near to thundery shower level. Few cells had formed over western parts of NR area,
