Cutting Hedgerows

Just dusted down the old boneshaker for an afternoon trundle around the local lanes (& the Red Lion) & was amazed to see neighbouring farmers' hedges given severe cuts already.

I've always been told that Feb/March is the best time, as the winter fruits have been eaten & nesting hasn't started yet. Cut back to the bare branches in August deprives birds of winter food. Shame.
