This is a list from this site

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/index.html

The first link gives an explanation of NWP(Numerical Weather Prediction-or if you like forecasting using a computer to do all the hard work.

It explains how observations are fed in after being quality controlled and what configuration the main and other models have and how the forecast is produced and its output sent to customers.

The next link entitled

Atmospheric processes and parametrizations

gives an explanation of what these are, for example, boundary layer, clouds, covection, orography etc.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/apr/

For further reading and understanding just a little more of this hugely complex but immensely interesting subject try the links across the top of the page.

Climate

Seasonal Forecasting

Oceanography, projects, the Strtatosphere.

With this link always in the same place it should provide anyone on the forum or any visitor with a fairly easily avaiable guide to some of the mysteries of meteorology.

enjoy

Synoptic Analysis: Turning wetter, windier and colder from mid-week
