UK Outlook for Monday 23 Aug 2010 to Wednesday 1 Sep 2010:

A generally unsettled period of weather is in prospect. Showers or longer spells of rain are expected across the UK on many days, turning heavy in places, although it may become mostly dry for a time around the middle of the first week. Some sunshine is also likely, however, between the showers, probably most prevalent in the mornings. Strong winds are expected at times, especially in exposed western areas, where there is a risk of gales. Temperatures should be mainly on the cool side, but mild nights are likely under the cloud. Towards the end of the week, there are some indications of possibly improving conditions but the overall picture is for the unsettled theme to continue throughout.

These unsettled conditions may continue into the Bank Holiday weekend although there are some indications of drier and brighter weather spreading from the west later before the end of the weekend. The last few days of August and the first few days of September are likely to remain unsettled, although with a greater chance of drier and brighter spells in the south and east. Temperatures will be generally rather cool at first but should gradually recover to near normal by the start of September.

UK Outlook for Monday 7 Mar 2011 to Wednesday 16 Mar 2011:

A rather settled, although quite cloudy spell is likely at first. Most places should stay dry, although the odd spot of light rain or drizzle cannot be ruled out, perhaps turning more persistent at times in northern Scotland. Temperatures will be generally a little below normal, with a risk of frost and fog patches under any night time cloud breaks. From the middle of the first week it looks likely that it will turn more unsettled and milder across northern parts of the UK, with outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain and strong, perhaps gale-force winds at times. However, southern areas are likely to see drier, colder periods, with the risk of overnight frost continuing wherever there are clear skies.
