Mystery illness strikes after meteorite lands

It doesn't look like an meteor impact crater to me. There would have been a tremendous explosion: I haven't seen or heard any reports of that, but if I'm wrong, please point me in the right direction. My guess is that the gases are terrestrial rather than extra-terrestrial.

Fascinating stuff, Gray Wolf. Thanks, everyone.

Kind regards,

Mike.

Craters can look very different due to the size and composition of the meteorite. I'd say the crater looks plausible for a pretty small meteor.

I thought I would scour the net for word of the meteorite today... Nothing.

Except this http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_ka...us_third_an.htm :)

I think I'll scour the net for pretty peaceful pictures and poems instead, I'll just forget all about it :D

According to Spaceweather it WAS a meteorite and the ill health was from asenic fumes released from local volcanic rock where the meteor impacted. No radiation or space virus involved (though old ladies wearing lace were reportedely seen at the scene. <_<
