Bit early for most to make their predictions (although this thread is later than the August and September threads), however with the unusual predictions the models are showing in FI, the thread can be used for discussion on the likely effect on CET.

October is an unusual month in that the 1971-2000 average (10.4C) is cooler than the 1961-1990 average (10.6C). June is the only other month where this is the case.

For the stats merchants here are some rolling averages

    30 years - 10.7C

    20 years - 10.8C

    15 years - 10.8C

    10 years - 11.1C

    5 years - 11.2C

    1 year - 13.0C

I think that October will continue the trend that September started, in being only slightly above average, thus my prediction is 10.7C, 0.3C above average however i may raise this closer to the time to around the 11.4C mark.

I'm expecting rainfall to be around average, and a very easterly month, with some slow moving north easterly depressions suppressing maxima.

Well I'm happy with my 14.7C punt for September. October will probably come above average so I'm going for 11C

I can see the Scandinavian high slipping into a Euro High, so I would suggest a largely wet month, which a well above average CET 13.0C

I think a below average month is likely, with 10.0C.

I'll plump for 11.2, and it being a typical autumn month of years gone by - Wet and windy with foggy, damp mornings going towards November!

High Pressure to our southeast throughout October, very blocked month I feel with plenty of dry, foggy and bright weather. Mainly southerly winds. CET 12.9C

Why, so long as the final guess is made before the turn of the month what difference does it make. Anyway, what would we all do if we didn't have SB's various guesses and predictions to keep track of?

9.5. Cold and wet. Particularly cold and wet in the final week or ten days, when an intense Greenland High may form and give us an extended period of southerly tracking lows and cold northerly winds. Early snow for Scotland, Northern Ireland and perhaps Northern England.
