October 1974 has been showing up abit lately for archives and the CET was just 7.8c

Even 1992 was the same at 7.8c surprisingly. :)

The coldest octobers I`ve lived through.

But I`m going for 9.9c a little risky at just below average.

I'll stick my neck out and have an early guess at 11.2c.

I strongly believe the CET for October will be lower than average. Around 6.5-7C for the month as a whole. This is due to what seems to be an ever-growing trend of cooling as we get closer to Autumn/Winter months. I believe that OCtober will see a number of North Westerlies coming in, affecting mainly Scotland and Northern England where at times the temperatures here during the daytime could fall to as low as 4C :) . I have had a look at thermo charts for Novermber - January and it seems to me that this winter will be extremely cold, easily colder than recent years. It is therefore why I think October will be colder than usual it seems to me as if the cooling transition is already under way and will only gather in pace as the weeks pass. Thoughts?

Just would like to say hi to everyone again I haven't been on the forum for around 10 months! So I'm glad to be back. :)

Lovely forecast for anyone hoping for a sub 10.0c year. 6.5c-7.0c would mean the coldest since 1992 or 1905.

I would say a month with an anomaly of 3.4c below average is well out of our sights for the time being.

Yeah perhaps it was more suited to the October CET thread?

That would be a record cold october month 1905 was 7.1c with 1992 7.8c I thought or the coldest november since 2005 which was 6.2c :)

10.5C for me. Keeping the slightly under average run going [assuming a cold last week of Sept.]

very hard to call because it all depend son how long the very strong northern blocking can remain. Most likely in the high 9's low 10's *however* if the sort of blocking the GFs calls for remains for a good chunk of the month a CET in the 8's is quite possible as we saw in 1993.

I agree Darren - will be putting my punt in at the very last possible moment as the current models are certainly mouth-watering. I suspect this one will be difficult to call and could have a big impact on the overall CET competition.

hi anti-mild. Just wondered, what were your thought for this winter? Mild or cold? Or somewhere in between?
