As far as I know the highest gust recorded in the Feb' 16th gale was 118 mph at Lowther Hill in Lanarkshire. The record gust for a low level site in Britain is 145 mph reecorded at Kinnaird Head Lighthouse, Fraserburgh on 13th Feb' 1989 so 177 mph at Shetland seems way too high. I think the British record is 174 mph at Cairngorm summit on March 20th 1986.
