At 2030 this evening had a heavy wintry shower. Started as heavy hail, changed quickly to sleet and ended up as fairly heavy wet snow for approx 5-6 mins. Ground was all white and I have posted pics in my gallery and on the "November" thread.

Since then we have had another two wintry showers. heavy hail at approx 2130 and a mixed hail/sleet shower just now which has left the ground all white again.

:)

Copied from the weather report thread. Surprised there are not reports from further North.

Some showers have made it through the Grampians bringing in snowflakes on the wind at Muirhead, just outside Dundee. Temp on car showing 1C. Was 2C in the town. Perhaps I should copy this to the snow reports thread. In fact I will.

Since mid-afternoon several heavy, blustery snow showers with blizzard like conditions at times. Nothing lying at the moment though.

Woke up to a light dusting of snow this morning.

Also a light dusting here, and it's still lying, however it seems very localised.. I have checked through the traffic.org cams and there doesn't appear to be any snow on the cams you would expect B)

Sleet here this evening although to be fair it was about the ratio of 70-30% rain to snowflakes but a nice surprice though like a few nights ago was aswell when i saw a couple of sleet/snow showers albeit only lasting less less than 30 secs and were v.light.

Exceptional warmth for western Europe as October begins

There'll be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year affecting much of western Europe during the coming days, but that warmth will only graze the UK for now. Next weekend may see a more direct hit with the potential for southerly winds to draw some of that heat north and take temperatures into the mid or high-twenties. Read the full update here

Unusually warm September ending with some warm sunshine but also some rain

September will end up as another unusually warm month, and there will be some further warm, sunny spells to come as it draws to a close. Another bout of rain will be moving up from the southwest on Saturday, though. Read the full update here
