I have spotted an outbreak of thunderstorms across the west of Ireland, has anyone reported thunder, hail, sleet, snow today?

Only heavy rain and sleet I'm afraid.

A friend told me of hail, thunder and lightning on the Isle of Skye yesterday though.

I caught the local BBC Points West this evening and they had an interview with a guy whose house was struck by lightening in Bristol yesterday. Luckily he was uninjured and next door, which had worse damage, was unoccupied at the time.

Also showed amateur video of the waterspout in the Bristol Channel. Stunning

The thunderstorms are moving East now, at one point they were covering the whole of the west of Ireland. It looks like an organised band of thundery rain. So an alert for really heavy rain crossing Ireland should be placed.

What is it like there now? anyone underneath it?

Rain is moving East, still very intense rain, the radar had areas of red in it, so rain has been pretty intense, but the thunder has somewhat died, although there are still a few lightning flashes around on the detector.

Looks like it could be turning colder soon.
