time for something in a minor key I feel:

God rest ye merry gentlemen

Let nothing you dismay

For GFS our saviour

Has shown us Christmas Day

To save us all from Satan's power

(To take the snow away)

O timings are not entirely sure

Entirely sure

O, timings are not entirely sure

Slightly off topic but still on a musical theme, I am assuming that in Telford it doesn't rain men, rather it sleets them....

I like this thread SF, shame my song writing talets aren't really up to it.

However, what about a couple of verses to the tune of 'In the bleak midwinter'

In these bloomin winters

frosty winds are gone

they're warm and wet and windy

snow and frost there's none

drizzle upon drizzle

cloud and murky skies

leave us feeling let down

by FI model lies

Bah Humbug!

The south coast is cold,

Bournemouth at minus three

Frost on the ground

Ice hanging off the tree

Im just trying to describe Bournemouths unlikely position topping the cold table in England right now.

It's not a carol but it's a paen to 70s forecasters and the boy that grew up fascinated by them and the cold spells of childhood:

Sensible check and thick rimmed specs

And 30 seconds to live

And tell the world (at least our part)

Of what the days may bring

To ease the fears of eldery dears

Or seed the fields of dreamers?

To stop the slide of magnetic signs

Or talk to the believers?

To place the blue upon the map

An ice pick through the heart

To send to death the tended shrub

By gentlest remark

A small boy sits agog at the box

As horizontal lines

Stretch from the East across our world

And out beyond for miles

And Dad puts bits of paper in the window gaps at night

Whilst frost inside the windows grows cold and swirled and wide

The man from the ministry is on again

It's set for days he says

The small boy shivers and then he smiles

Everything for the best.

To the tune of Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Cold lovers are you listening West Is Best's mild ramps are missing

a beautiful sight it happened overnight

This year will be a winter wonderland

Richard says this year will be cold man

Just you go and check with Ian Brown

We say are you crazy he says no man

I'm just the biggest ramper in the town

This Christmas we'll perspire

While our winter weathers dire

Global warming is here

It's costing us dear

Westy you will change again next year

The First Noel

The first Graupel the WiBs did say

Was to certain poor forecasters

It is never going to lay,

In fields where OON lay

keeping his sheep

On a cold winter's night

that was so deep.

Oh well Oh well the first Graupel

Born is the Winter of 2007

They looked up and saw a cloud afar

Snowing in the East beyond them far,

And to TEITS it gave great light,

And so it continued both day and night.

Oh well Oh well the first Graupel

Born is the Winter of 2007!

And by the light of that snow afar

Three wise men came from country far,

To seek for PP was their intent

And to follow the shower

wherever it went.

Oh well Oh well the first Graupel

Born is the Winter of 2007

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,

Twelve ice days running,

Eleven low max records,

Ten hoar frost mornings,

Nine inches drifting,

Eight northeast squall lines,

Seven M4 closures,

Six below zero,

FIVE TEN FOR SURE,

Four frozen Scots,

Three French lows,

Two German troughs,

AND A BIG RIDGE OVER SCANDI.

B)

Good King West is Best looked out,

On the feast of Steve Murr,

When the snow lay round about,

Parts of Lincs and Yorkshire,

Swiftly fell the CET,

Down to less than zero,

No one guessed it within three,

Save for Teits, my hero.

And a slight change to a Nat King Cole Classic:

Fax charts roasting on an open fire,

Hoarfrost nipping at your toes,

A snowy front that shows up on radar,

And Nick F dressed up like an Eskimo.

Everybody knows Wetterzentrale and UKMO

Help to make the season bright.

All the rampers with their eyes all aglow,

Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know ‘the Beast’ is on its way;

Stephen Prudence predicts snow-showers through the day.

And West is Best is going to spy,

To see if ECM shows an elusive Greeny high.

And so Paul's offering member benefits,

To kids from one to ninety-two,

Although its been said many times, many ways,

A snowy winter to you

Away in a fluster,

no snow on their head,

The TEITS and Andy Leics

posted their views of the models ahead

The clouds in the heavens

Poured down snow that day

The little GMG

asleep after been on NW all day.

The menbers are moaning,

the Bartlett awakes,

But little Steve M,

no tracker He makes.

I love The, snow showers

Come down from the sky

And stay by my window

Lamppost watching all night

Hi Guys,

To the tune of "Silent Night".

After midnight, 00zs in sight.

All are fraught, all are tight.

Round yon 500s, archived and filed.

Holy grail charts, bitter not mild.

This mild rubbish will cease.

This mild rubbish will cease.

After midnight, 00zs in sight.

Mushymanrob quakes with fright.

Bifurcated jet stream from Newfoundland. Aah!!

Stevie Murr sings Alleluia!!

Finally a true Greenie is born.

Finally a true Greenie is born.

After midnight, 00zs in sight.

Son of Siberia, rampers delight.

Thrusting a ridge from a NE place.

Linking with Greenie, LOOK at TEITS face!

Real northern blocking of worth.

Real northern blocking of worth.

Regards,

Tom.

Doh! GMG got there first - anyway, here's my belated version...

God bless you merry GFS

A snowstorm you display

A 528 DAM south of us

A northerly all day

But when we zoom in closer

You always do dismay

'Cos it’s always out in FI

(Out in FI)

'Cos it’s always out in FI.

The Greeny and the Scandi when they are both full Grown

out of the blocking on the charts the Greeny highs the one.

The Ramping on the forum the when the Greeny first appears

The crying of Steve Prudence cause its been so mild for years.

The Greeny brings us snowfall as white as lilly flower and brings

us nice disruption including loss of power.

When the 6z shows the snow

All the posters would like to know

Does it put a smile, on old Osbourne's face?

If TEITS jumps out of bed

Does Stratos Ferric cover up his head

Don't lock the Winter thread

You know that sweet cold weather's on the way

Well I wish it could be Winter, every day

When SACRA start ramping and SATSIGS come out to play

Oh, I wish it could be Winter, every day

Let ensembles show snow for Christmas

Lamppost watching in the park

And the snow cloud makes it dark

Shuggee's rosy cheek's gonna light my merry way

The frosty forecast team appear

And they've frozen up my ear

So we'll post by the fire

'til the models simply knocks 'em all away

Well I wish it could be Winter, every day

When SACRA start ramping and SATSIGS come out to play

Oh, I wish it could be Winter, every day

Let ensembles show snow for Christmas

When Roger Smith sends us the snow (when Roger sends the snow)

Well he just might like to know (well he just might like to know)

He's put a great big smile on everybody's face

Mr Data gives the facts (Data gives the facts)

Thick coats and woolly hats (coats and woolly hats)

Sign your name in the mass of drifting snow

And we hope its going to stay

Well I wish it could be Winter, every day

When SACRA start ramping and SATSIGS come out to play

Oh, I wish it could be Winter, every day

Let ensembles show snow for Christmas

Okay you lot - take it!

In the Bleak Mid Winter. (Rewritten for even larger teapot and male voice choir...)

In the mild mid-winter,

Rainfall made us moan,

Earth was soft and squelchy,

Sacra all groan.

No had fallen,

No on no,

No on no.

In the mild mid-winter,

Not so long ago.

The Modern Winter (on the west coast)

Thanks to global warming,

The flies and bees are swarming.

Such has climate cost,

The existence of our frost.

But I am not complaining,

I am just proclaiming,

That mild winters are here to stay

hip hip hooray

Last Christmas, it snowed at the start

But the very next day, it all went away

This year, to save me from tears

I’m not expecting anything special

Once forecast and twice close-by

It keep its distance still the models caught my eye

Ski shop proprietor do you recognise me?

Well it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me

(Strange synoptics!) I zipped it up and sent it

With an E-mail saying "dodgy” and I meant it

Now I know what a fool I've been

But if they showed the same now I know they'd fool me again

Last Christmas, it snowed at the start

But the very next day, it all went away

This year, to save me from tears

I’m not expecting anything special

A crowded forum, friends with tired eyes

I'm lurking on the model thread and looking for ice

My God I thought NOAA were someone to rely on

Me? I guess I was following GMG (Brian)

Bottesford was a cyclist with a fire in his heart

Pottyprof on environment – a world tearing apart

Oooh Oooh

Now I've heard mushymanrob they'll never fool me again

Last Christmas, it snowed at the start

But the very next day, it all went away

This year, to save me from tears

I’m not expecting anything special
