Fred, main reason for the upward revision comes from expected very mild spell around Christmas, I now think a second low will follow the deep 24th low and keep the UK in very mild air for several days (could top 15 C), so if the average had been heading for 4 at that point (say 4.5), it would take quite a sharp turn back up towards 6 instead of a downturn. Otherwise the rest of the month looks rather average with a few cooler than average days thrown in.

Lets have a go at this as well then. Sorry D4L, I've jinxed you, 5.3c its got to be. Sort of averagey type month.

Tom.

Just to remind everyone - this is the start of the

NEW ANNUAL COMPETITION - NWCET-2

and the start of the WINTER quarter competition. Get your entries in by 23:59 on Friday if you want to avoid penalties. If, like the mighty leads - and mufc - you think you're good enough to overcome swingeing penalisation - then you could always wait until around the 10th to see how things are panning out.

Who won the previous competitions? I was never asked to give anyone a prize!?

That's because it's not finished yet. Keep up at the back as Mr Ward used to say to us!

I think it's down to Beng vs Lord AC of Brixton. And the prize, I think I'm right in saying, was a choice between a year's subscription to Extra, or a night moderating the model thread - no holds barred.

Was your edit to change the spelling to leads?

That was careless of me, though strangely appropriate.

I think last winters competition ought to have finished by now though!

Winter did, but the prize was for the annual winner - unless you're starting to feel even more generous.

I'd love to raise my CET guess but I will hold onto what i've got.

first 10 days are IMO going to come in a good 2.5-3.5C above average and if the jet pattern doesn't change after the 15th then we are looking at a 6.5-7.5C type month however still way to early to make that assumption.

I would like to revise my punt down to 6.4C

Thanks.

Steady, Eddie!

Sorry, just a sudden impulse to say that. Haven't heard it since the last time it snowed profoundly, which was - I think - before most peopele on here were born.

I'm currenly thinking mild, but am not going to post until I've seen what TWS thinks.

I'll go for 5.6C slightly above average.

I'll think I'll adjust this upwards 5.9C
