Helluva day up here! Steady windspeeds of 43 mph at the moment, highest gust so far 63 mph! Mixed rain/sleet to start with but just heavy rain now.

Hi all, its a bit of a blow up here!! Steady windspeeds now in excess of 50mph, highest gust so far today 68mph (Severe Gale 9 gusting Storm 10). Mainly heavy rain but still cold enough for the occasional burst of sleet.

strange just talking to my friend near bournmouth and he didnt say anything about unusual weather. said there was a huge arrow over his house though. :)

getting quite windy here with the rain but i dont think it will get anywhere near 91mph. or at least i hope not :)

Looks like quite an active front passing through Mid to South Wales SW England. Aa ever the front is weak near us and offering nothing of note. I guess it's rather squally down there.

Nowhere special cookie, just the meto site! Doesn't surprise me theres not much movement dont think i'd like to be chucking around on the oggin tonight!

Still steady winds in excess of 45mph and gusting up to 66mph. Gust of 71mph at Baltasound (Unst) earlier on.

Aye they dont make winds like this down south do they John!! Were you up here in Jan 1993 when the Braer went aground? That January there were 18 consecutive days when the winds were Gale Force 8 or above!! If that happened on the mainland the whole place would be laid waste :doh:

Yes its certainly much calmer today with just a light breeze and sunny spells with the occasional shower! The ferry actually made it in today so there will actually be some food in the shops so I'll have to pop out and get some stuff! Pleasures of living on remote islands :lol:
