Generally rather boring year in Bournemouth.

One thunderstorm in June which dumped over half an inch of rain in half an hour

No ice days (indeed no ice days since Jan 97)

No snow (indeed no snow since Jan 04)

Some gales in the early weeks made life a little interesting but thats all.

One interesting statistic.. 23.8c was reached on 14th April - this was not exceeded till August 23rd, and only August 25th exceeded 25c. The three warmest days in the year occurred outside and either side of the four month period centred on the summer solstice. Quite remarkable.

As for 2008.. the past three years ending in 8 (can't remember 1968) have all brought poor summers. Will 2008 follow the trend?

There was certainly a lack of t-storms in this locale this summer, I'm greatful to have had the storm fix in the US back in May. Been pretty uneventfull here all year:hardly any thunder and lightning; little snow; no heatwaves - though obviously the floods were big talking point in other parts of England.

Your not a million miles from me Nick and perversly I had a cracking year for thunderstorms. Back end of July was particularly good. I suppose it just goes to show how a small distance can make a huge differance, plus the hit and miss nature of storms. 2007 for me will go down as the year of the crap winter, a very promising looking spring, humid summer with a real tropical feel about it, despite the lack of sunshine! And a very seasonal felling Autumn, despite the lack of very high winds. So far this winter, I can't remember the last time I was so full of HOPE! lol
