Here we are at the end of another month, and July has been the wettest month so far this year:

January: 87.9mm

February: 26.1mm

March: 109.8mm

April: 57.9mm

May: 106.2mm

June: 17.9mm (driest month)

July: 116.7mm (wettest month)

Interesting to note the difference in totals between June and July. Also, an overall trend seems to be for a fairly dry month to alternate with a wet one with January, March, May and July being wet and February, April (not so dry) and June being dry.

Total for 2008 so far: 532.5mm

"Rain in May, barnfull of hay", so the saying goes. Obviously not this year, because there's a barnfull of hay! Thanks for the stats Tonyh, very interesting, including the daily weather. (Folks are from Coventry, I was born in Nuneaton - still got family in Coundon area, NW Coventry).

2008 Summer Rainfall Totals (1 June - 26 August)

rainfall.png

Within the UK some local rainfall records have been broken, especially across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland where flooding severely affected road and rail transport.

Provisional rainfall figures show that Northern Ireland had its wettest August since 1914.

Somerset Squall, I guess you had more rain yesterday than the 3mm that fell here in the brief sharp showers?

I'm a little annoyed that another 0.5mm couldn't be found yesterday :) . What has happened, though, is that the run of a wet month being followed by dry month is over.

Jan = 123mm

Feb = 30.5mm

Mar = 101.5mm

Apr = 56.5mm

May = 107mm

June = 49.5mm

July = 104mm

Aug = 99.5mm

Total = 671.5mm

This year does look to be a wetter year to last year which does take some believing after last summer`s deluges.

This time Last year 25.4" final total 32.1"

Same time this year 26.7" :)

Got some way to go yet 932mm last year and 706mm so far this year. I did expect last year to be a record wet year for us but a run of dry months scuppered it those being September, October and November. Well we can rule out September a being a dry month unless it stops raining from here on. Unlikely.

That does make this year now wetter than last year, well up to August 31st that is. And so far this month there has already been over twice the amount of rain that fell throughout September last year! Are we up for another September as wet as 2000?
