I'm now up to 1225mm for the year. If I can squeeze out 19mm more from the atmosphere before the end of the year, I'll have had my wettest year in the eleven I've been recording.

1088mm here now and I 'only' need about 260mm to make it the wettest year on record. Why, it's almost in the bag!

A much drier month in October, however it's pretty interesting to note that 30 Sept and 1 Nov had a combined total of 45mm which, with even 12 hours difference either ahead or back into October, would have made the month's total much higher!!

Jan = 123mm

Feb = 30.5mm

Mar = 101.5mm

Apr = 56.5mm

May = 107mm

June = 49.5mm

July = 104mm

Aug = 99.5mm

Sept = 115.5mm

Oct = 76.5mm

Total = 863.5mm

Nowhere near as wet as TM or OON thank goodness.

But still wet at 792.4mm so far.

Which was the previous wettest year on record by any chance.

Last year finished at 815.3mm

So this year does look like finishing wetter.

1420mm last year Tony. Less than 4 inches needed to beat that. Will we get 4 inches before the year is out?? :rolleyes: The near future looks pretty dry...?

Sorry, I'm not recording rainfall, but I can tell you the quarry here (a small dent in the landscape, at the top of a hill, excavated to make someones home) has not dried out all summer, which it normally does. It usually dries out just before the tadpoles have found their legs - this year it's been at pretty much winter levels, non stop! I think it may be unprecedented within my knowing, I'm fairly sure it all but dried out last year!

2008 rainfall for Coventry (courtesy of Dad):

Jan: 91.7mm (176%)

Feb: 27.0mm (64%)

Mar: 65.0mm (143%)

Apr: 56.0mm (106%)

May: 88.2mm (165%)

June: 36.4mm (64%)

July: 80.5mm (150%)

Aug: 96.8mm (164%)

Sept: 110.3mm (190%)

Oct: 63.9mm (90%)

2008: 716mm so far

Under 100mm needed (18mm on November 1st) to beat the highest annual total since me and Dad began rainfall records in Coventry in 1981. Record is 833mm in both 2000 and 2007.

Just under 1110 here, I think I'm still losing ground, OON.

A measly 888.3 mm so far this year here. Another 176.8mm needed to break the record. Long shot and we're not likely to do it.

225 mm needed here to break the record, it's still possible but, as you say, a long shot.

A wet Novemer and a December like 1993 would do it with plenty to spare.

Yesterday saw me tooping my previously wettest year (2004) in eleven years of recording - as the total for this year so far now stands at just over 1250mm.
What I meant to say was this year has already exceeded the wettest year I've recorded since I started measuring in 1997.

Tooping - what's that?

Just under 1110 here, I think I'm still losing ground, OON.
You'll be getting standpipes if it keeps up. Edited by Osbourne One-Nil

885.3mm here so far. The 1971-2000 average for the year is 565.4mm, so needless to say its a very wet year.

January, March, April, July, August, September and October have all had more than 150% of average.
