Yesterday, Tuesday 8th January

Clear periods with a moderate breeze have kept the temperature up so no frost overnight. Currently at reading time, dry and partly cloudy with a moderate to fresh SE wind. The morning and afternoon saw mostly overcast and windy conditions with intermittent light spots of rain and just a few bright spells, much milder than recently. Top temperature near 11c. The evening started dry, but around 21:00hrs a heavy squally shower accompanied by a very sharp drop in temperature from 9c to 3c in around 15 minutes turned the rain to wet snow, giving a slight covering. Rain / snow melt total = 4mm.

According to the version of the "Steadmann Standard" used by following this link:

http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weathe...calculator.html

the wind chill would be -25.4C at 76mph. The provided calculator doesn't seem to deal with 107mph (172.2kph)!
