Steady, heavy snow, settling readily and been going for about an hour now.

I think you've hit bulls eye today OON ! Area of PPN starting to slow it's southerly track now I think, beginning to pivot ready to head on a more SE track. W. Yorkshire might just strike lucky (if it stays as snow)

Alston Moors will soon be cut-off..

Snow falling throughout the area, drifting in the strong winds. Roads are still open but conditions are becoming worse (police)

Blizzard conditions here on the NE coast.

Here's after 40 mins, bearing in mind the ground was soaking wet.

Light Snow just starting to fall on the western side of the Yorkshire Dales.

Hoping for some nice Snowdrifts like we had in Feb 2005.

Cheers,

Chrissy.

Heavy snow in Inverness, temperature plummeted overnight from around 7'C (due to the warm sector I believe) to around 0-1'C. Snow stopped for a time with skies clearing, however darkclouds are moving in once again and any sign of a clear-up is now diminishing. Quite a fierce wind, bitterly cold to be in it.

Well, I made some reference yesterday at getting my bermuda shorts out, in protest of the snow concentrating itself to the east, however.....the blizzards have started here recently, temp 0.8oC, so may stick to the long johns for a wee while longer! hehe

very heavy falls of snow in the west of ireland.

Couldn't send it North East could you?

Any ideas why the forecasts and models went wrong for NI? I thought we were prime position, i.e North Westerly winds, low upper air temps over a relatively warm ocean, numerous troughs on Meto charts, 60% risk of severe weather from Meto, GFS precipation charts and snow charts, it all looked great?

Spalding Lincolnshire is just having its first snow shower.

Now snowing quite heavy (flakes not very big). Sky has totally greyed over gone quite dark, almost looks like winter.

Does'nt look like settling yet, but at least were seeing some snow which nowadays is a minor miracle for Spalding.

Shower just finishing now. looks like thick high cloud behind it. Could be overspill from the trough giving the stuff further North. If it is I suppose it'll kill off the showers until it's cleared away east.
