There are many different modeling systems out there trying to predict how the 2008 hurricane season will fair.

Lets see how we get on as individuals and once the deadline has passed, I will work out the average and see how we fair as a group.

I will keep things simple and restrict the predictions to 5 categories.

Date first named storm is formed:

Last storm dissipated:

Name of strongest hurricane:*

Number of Hurricanes (Cat 1+):

Number of major Hurricanes (Cat 3+):

The earliest a storm has formed in the last 10 years is 20/04/03. Therefore, giving an extra 3 weeks, I will make the deadline for entries 23:59 on Monday 31st March 2008.

* Here is a list of 2008 Hurricane names;

2008 Hurricane Names

Arthur

Bertha

Cristobal

Dolly

Edouard

Fay

Gustav

Hanna

Ike

Josephine

Kyle

Laura

Marco

Nana

Omar

Paloma

Rene

Sally

Teddy

Wilfred

Can we please keep this thread clean of general chat and leave only for the predictions?

There is a seperate thread running for general discussion, thoughts and opinions on this competition.

Regards,

Cat 5

I will be a sport and make an early call on this "Gray area" of forecasting (ha ha) ...

Date first named storm is formed: May 30 (Gulf)

Last storm dissipated: Dec 14

Name of strongest hurricane:* Laura (in that part of the season anyway)

Number of Hurricanes (Cat 1+): 12

Number of major Hurricanes (Cat 3+): 5

and you didn't ask but number of named storrms, 19 or 20

Thinking this will be quite an active season and fairly close to all-time second place, top five material anyway. Gulf and Caribbean will be major zones for activity first half of season then more of a shift to subtropical Atlantic. Iceland to be the popular dumping ground for these storms.

Hmmm trying to input the tables. Are on an Excel spreadsheet but when I copy and paste them onto here they do not work.

Anyone any idea how to transfer a spreadsheet onto a post?

Thanks

I would post the excel file itself as an attachment rather than trying to input into the thread Cat5.
